My Name is Mike Gibbs and I am standing for re-election to the Board of Trustees for Linwood Avenue School. I currently have two children at Linwood Avenue “Jack” in Year Four and “Amelia” in Year Two

I’m a proud, passionate, enthusiastic and active parent of the Linwood Avenue community and appreciate the value of education not only for the future of our children but for society.

We are a family who are heavily involved in our communities, I have been on the Board of Trustees for Linwood Avenue School for the past the 3 years. I belong to the Salvation Army in Linwood. Have spent 8 years helping out at the Salvation Army Community Ministries. Previously I’ve sat on a number of different boards, the local community preschool, local organisations providing community gardens for low income families. My wife and I recently help set up a new neighbour’s group in our area, to help those locals who need a hand or who’d like to just have some fun.

A Little about Myself: - My Family; Amy my wife; Jack 8; Amelia 6. We also have 2 older boys Sam 12 & Hamish 11 - I have a disability called Cerebral Palsy, this makes me more determined to achieve. - I’m keen on Cricket, Rugby, Scouts and Family - I once worked as an English Teacher in a South Korean Preschool called Disneyland. - I spent a number of years running my own consultancy business

I bring a professional background in: = Business Management = Policy and report analysis = Project Management = Facilitation and Community Co-Ordination

Linwood Avenue School has a strong and rapidly-growing reputation as one of Christchurch’s premier schools on the east side of town, our current board has worked particularly well with the school to bolster this standing. There are several important matters in the school's development that the board are currently involved in; the redevelopment and building program, the increased student achievement, working with other schools, I’d like to continue to be involve in these.

Like all parents at Linwood Avenue School, I want the very best for our kids, I’d like to use my skills and experience by continuing to support the school community. I would welcome the opportunity to continue representing the parent body on the Board of Trustees should I be re-elected.

Vote for Mike Gibbs, Thank you for your support
